Overview
A Power BI Pro licence lets the assigned user create reports, publish them to the Power BI service, and share dashboards and workspaces with other Pro users. You can connect to more than 100 data sources, from Excel and SQL Server to cloud services, refresh datasets on a schedule, and collaborate on the same reports in the browser.
The licence is tied to one user account in your organisation. An administrator assigns it in the Microsoft 365 admin centre, and the user signs in with their work account to reach the Power BI service in any modern browser. Power BI Desktop, the free Windows authoring tool, works alongside the licence for building data models and reports.
Because Power BI Pro is a subscription, access continues for as long as the licence stays active. You can reassign it to a different user in your organisation when roles change.

Activation
We email your Power BI Pro subscription details as soon as your order is confirmed.
In the Microsoft 365 admin centre, open Billing, then Licenses, and assign Power BI Pro to the user in your organisation who needs it.
The assigned user signs in to the Power BI service at app.powerbi.com with their work account to start publishing and sharing reports.
To build reports and data models, download the free Power BI Desktop app for Windows and sign in with the same account.
