Overview
Visual Studio 2026 Professional gives you the full Professional edition of Microsoft's IDE in one install: the code editor with IntelliSense, the debugger, the profiler and diagnostics tools, Git source control, visual designers, and built-in unit testing. It supports a wide range of languages and project types, so you can work on C#, C++, F#, Python and JavaScript across web, cloud, desktop and mobile from a single environment.
This is a one-time, perpetual licence for the 2026 release. You pay once and keep the right to use Visual Studio 2026 Professional with no monthly or yearly fee and nothing to cancel. It is licensed per user rather than per device, and it is a standalone product licence, not a Visual Studio subscription, so it does not include subscription-only extras such as Azure credits.
The Professional edition sits between the free Community edition, meant for individual developers and open-source work, and the Enterprise edition, which adds advanced testing and architecture tooling. Professional is aimed at paid, professional development where you need the standard toolset without the extra Enterprise features.

Activation

Type the 25-character key from your email to activate the perpetual licence, then confirm it under Help > About Microsoft Visual Studio.
